NEW! Brick & Mortar Shop

It's been a whirlwind since the opportunity dropped in my lap last October to open my dream brick & mortar shop!

Following months of researching & making products, navigating the legalities of opening a physical location, and renovating the interior into a magickal destination, I'm finally able to come up for a breath and give an update.

What is Vervain & Rue Apothicaire?

One of the requirements in opening the shop was to provide the local review boards with a generic name for the shop. Apothicaire is the historical term for "storehouse". It initially referred to a place where non-perishable goods were stored. "Apothicaire" seemed like the perfect generic term for the Vervain & Rue shop, a storehouse of magickal goods.

Where is Vervain & Rue Apothicaire located?

Vervain & Rue Apothicaire is located in the heart of Babylon Village, on the south shore of Long Island, NY. My husband and I relocated here back in 2021 and reside in an amazing c.1875 Victorian house just around the corner from the shop! We are located "mid-island", a few minutes off the Southern State Parkway and an easy walk from the LIRR train station.

Who is behind Vervain & Rue Apothicaire?

Vervain & Rue Apothicaire is run by me, Susan Heidi Filardo. Whether you know me as a former chemical engineer, artist, or energy worker, I have always been attracted to the realm of infinite possibilities. I've had a particular book in my collection for decades, "A Shop of One's Own: Women Who Turned the Dream into Reality" By Rachel Epstein. It was a dream of mine to open my own retail shop one day, and that dream became a reality in Vervain & Rue Apothicaire.
